Chasing Glory in Nice: CyclingCeramic Athletes Ready for the IRONMAN World Championship

This Sunday, September 14, the eyes of the endurance world will turn to the French Riviera as Nice hosts the 2025 IRONMAN World Championship. Known for its breathtaking scenery and one of the most technical bike courses on the circuit, Nice will challenge even the most seasoned triathletes with steep climbs, sharp descents, and the heat of the Riviera sun. It is a race where precision, preparation, and mental strength matter as much as raw fitness.

CyclingCeramic is proud to have six ambassadors competing on this iconic stage, a strong statement of the trust placed in our technology at the highest level of performance. From seasoned professionals to rising talents, each of them embodies the values of resilience, efficiency, and passion for the sport.

In this feature, we turn the spotlight on two of them: Wilhelm Hirsch from Germany and Jordi Montraveta Moya from Spain. Both arrive in Nice after seasons of hard work, remarkable achievements, and carefully planned preparation. Their paths could not be more different — one inspired by Germany’s triathlon legacy, the other shaped by the rugged climbs of Catalonia — yet they converge here, ready to push their limits in pursuit of glory.

Different Roads to the Same Stage

For Wilhelm, triathlon has been a guiding force from an early age. Inspired by Jan Frodeno’s Olympic triumph in 2008 and Germany’s podium sweep at Kona 2016, qualifying for Nice at IRONMAN Barcelona — where he set a new personal best — was a defining moment that confirmed his place among the sport’s elite.

Jordi’s journey began in the rugged mountains of Catalonia. After discovering triathlon in 2013, he was quickly drawn to the toughest races — Lanzarote, Andorra, Cagnes-sur-Mer — where steep climbs and harsh conditions brought out his best performances. For him, Nice is not just a first World Championship on European soil; it is the culmination of a season meticulously built around this challenge.

The Balance Behind the Athlete

Outside of competition, both men seek balance in their own ways. Wilhelm values simplicity — evenings at cafés, card games with friends, and quality time with his girlfriend provide small but vital escapes from the intensity of training. Jordi embraces complexity, balancing the roles of professional triathlete, PhD candidate, professor, and endurance coach. Their lifestyles may differ, yet both highlight the same truth: balance is the foundation for peak performance.

The Drive Behind the Preparation

Both Wilhelm and Jordi approach Nice with different but equally powerful motivations. Wilhelm, still early in his professional journey, is focused on establishing himself among the world’s best: “Alongside sporting success, the most important thing for me is to keep improving year by year and grow into the top ranks. Of course, achieving big results is part of that path, and one of my biggest dreams is to one day stand on the podium at the IRONMAN World Championship.”

Jordi, on the other hand, sees his career through a wider lens. The synergy between competing, coaching, and research at INEFC fuels his approach to sport: “Every race teaches me something I can pass on to the athletes I coach. That connection between theory, practice, and experience is what motivates me daily. In the long run, I want to keep progressing as both a triathlete and a coach, leaving a mark not just in the sport but in the people I accompany.”

Trust in Technology

In long-distance racing, equipment has become as decisive as fitness and strategy. Both athletes are uncompromising when it comes to marginal gains. As Wilhelm puts it: “Technology can make a decisive difference.” Jordi adds: “Ceramic bearings are key. They let you use 100% of the watts you generate, without losing energy.”

This is why they trust CyclingCeramic. From bottom brackets to oversized pulley wheels, every component is engineered to maximize efficiency and ensure that no watt is wasted. On a course as punishing as Nice, these details can be the difference between finishing and contending.

Eyes on the Future

What unites them is ambition, though their goals take different forms. Wilhelm is focused on building step by step toward the long-term dream of standing on a World Championship podium. Jordi’s vision goes beyond his own racing, aiming to grow both as an athlete and as a coach, using lessons from competition to inspire and guide others.

On Sunday, both will face the climbs, descents, and heat of Nice, testing themselves against the world’s best. CyclingCeramic is proud to support them — and all six of our ambassadors in Nice — ensuring that when they push their limits, performance and precision are never compromised.

As the race approaches, we wish Wilhelm, Jordi, and our entire CyclingCeramic team of athletes the very best of luck. May their dedication, strength, and passion carry them through every mile of the course and inspire others to chase their own goals with the same determination.
